Peak Theatre's CALL TO AUDITION Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 7 PM At the Sundre Arts Centre
Peak Theatre is hosting general auditions on Thursday, December 1 for their upcoming winter production! Peak has seven scripts in mind that have various cast sizes depending on interest/availability. The script and cast will be selected no later than December 4 with rehearsals Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm; also a few tentative Sunday rehearsals. Auditions will be a cold read of sections from the script. Performances will be mid-end of January. Potential scripts for production are:
Kitchen Witches by Caroline Smith Two “mature” cable-access cooking show hosts, who have hated each other for over 30 years, are put together on a tv show. Insults are flung, harder than the food! The show becomes a ratings smash that tops both Martha Stewart & Jerry Springer
Drinking Habits by Tom Smith Accusations, mistaken identities and romances run wild in this laugh out loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the doors open. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.
Be Here Now by Deborah Zoe Lauder Bari has always been a bit of an angry, depressed misanthrope. Lately her recurring headaches manifest bizarre, ecstatic, almost religious experiences and are changing her entire view of life. She’s in love! She’s almost… happy! When she finds out they’re also killing her, she must decide whether it’s better to live a short, joyful life, or risk a lifetime of misery.
The Birds by Conor McPherson Based on Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film. A gripping unsettling and moving look at human relationships in the face of societal collapse. In an isolated house strangers take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds. Their survival becomes more doubtful when paranoia takes hold of the makeshift fortress - an internal threat to match that of the birds outside.
Dear Jack, Dear Louise by Ken Ludwig U.S Army Captain, a military doctor begins writing an aspiring actress and dancer hoping to meet her someday if the war will allow. As the war continues, it threatens to end their relationship before it even starts.
Knickers! By Sarah Quick The paper mill that long propped up the economy of Ellison Falls has been shut down, sending the town spiralling into economic depression. Could three brassy friends that make up the local chapter of Weight Watchers plan for a custom underwear business (complete with giant knickers as a roadside attraction) really be the town’s salvation?
Elvis Has Left The Building by Cate & Ernsberger It’s December 20th 1970 and Elvis Presley has disappeared. The Colonel is all shook up because he has racked up a secret debt. With the King himself missing, the only way to pay it off is to find an Elvis impersonator within 24 hours.
If you are unable to attend Thursday’s audition, then we can accommodate an alternative date. Please contact Jason at firstname.lastname@example.org
Come on out and try local, live theatre! If you've been interested in getting involved but aren't sure where to start, Peak will be able to help you ease into a role or helping out with the production! Hope to see you there!
