Shirley Jackson with Jef Wirchenko & Charlie Jacobson
Sunday, 8 July 2018

Picture

Shirley Jackson - she hails to a sound inspired by the early years of Rock & Roll and Blues when horn sections were an integral part of the ensemble. Repertoire consists of many original songs, as well as some fun tunes by her greatest influences. Her (and her Good Rockin’ Daddys) accolades include 2018 ECMA nominations for Blues Recording of the Year, 2018 Maple Blues Award nominations for Horn Player of the Year, and many more!

Jef Wirchenko - Shirley's son; a 'home- grown' bass player that has been an important part in developing the songs and the sound for the past 25 years. He graduated from Saint FX University in music and has been involved in a wide variety of musical projects in the Halifax music scene.

Charlie Jacobson – a guitar player that appears to own the instrument when he’s on stage. It is not uncommon to see him weaving throughout crowds and jumping from drum kit to table, while singing his heart out, and never losing a note on the guitar. He has backed up and been backed up by some of the Canadian blues giants: Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Russell Jackson, Sherman “Tank” Doucette, David Vest and Donald Ray Johnson, to name a few. Currently he is touring across Canada in support of his latest album titled – “Travelin”.
