MATILDA is a delightful and challenging musical theatre production based on Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name.

CASTING
8-10 Children, ages 7-13
8-10 Adults. ages 20-60
Principals
Matilda female age 7-11, (3 Solos, 6 ensemble) - A clever, imaginative girl, wise beyond her years.
Miss Agatha Trunchbull male or female age 35-55 (2 solos) - Tyrannical headmistress at Matilda’s school, despises children
Miss Honey female age 22-40 (3 Solos) - Matilda’s kindhearted teacher
Mr. Wormwood male age 30-45 (1 Solo) - Matilda's father, a slimy, greedy used car salesman
Mrs Wormwood Female age 30-45 (1 Solo) - Self-absorbed, negligent mother, amateur ballroom dancer
Bruce male age 7-14 - Classmate, subjected to persecution by Miss Trunchbull
Lavender female age 7-11 - Friend and classmate

B. S. Productions is a not for profit club mandated to foster the growth and appreciation of musical theatre in the Sundre area. B. S. Productions is Brian Bailey and Jamie Syer. In the last four years we have produced “Dracula! The Musical?” and “In the Heights” with Sundre High School Drama Club, as well as “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” (Sundre and Edmonton International Fringe Festival) and most recently, “Give My Regards to Broadway.”
Director Brian Bailey has performed and directed with Peak Theatre Players for over 35 years and has enjoyed working with Sundre junior and high school drama clubs for over 20 years. Musical Director Jamie Syer is a lifelong lover of musical theatre, with many years of choral conducting, vocal coaching, piano accompanying, and acting to his credit. He enjoys mentoring enthusiastic singers and actors, of all ages.
Auditions will be held June 8 at 2 PM at the Sundre Arts Centre.
Actors should be prepared to audition a prepared song from MATILDA, as well as audition a prescribed script selection.
Actors may request to prepare their musical selection(s) with Jamie Syer, or bring their own accompanist.
Those who are cast will have opportunity to prepare songs with Jamie through the summer and early fall.
Acting and movement rehearsals will begin in October.
General rehearsals will start in late October and continue until performance dates, tentatively late February-March.
General rehearsals will typically be held at the Sundre Arts Centre on weekends, with additional rehearsals as needed.
If you can sing, or think you can sing and act, please don’t be timid! Dancing ability or potential is also an asset. You will learn a lot and enjoy performing before an appreciative audience.
There is no cost to be involved. There is no remuneration.
